Yoshi Breen: The Songs and RubyQ
(Yoshi Breen: Singer/songwriter/musician)
Yoshi Breen (Delft, NL, 1984) began writing his first songs at an early age and - particularly since joining the Dutch Rock Academy in 2002 - has built up an impressive catalogue of very diverse compositions, ranging from surprisingly melodic rockers, catchy pop songs, dramatically layered atmospheric soundscapes to arrestingly insightful ballads.
In June 2007 he graduated as both performer and songwriter, simultaneously launching two CD’s, for which he wrote, arranged and produced virtually all of the material: the band album RubyQ: FashionFever/MusicPitch plus his own album with thirteen original numbers: Yoshi Breen / The Songs.
As a songwriter he has steadily developed his own distinctively melodic and clever musical style. As a lyricist and tunesmith he incorporates influences from a wide range of musical sources, yet manages to transform these in a refreshingly individual way.
As a musician he has not only developed his own characteristic vocal sound, with a preference for dynamic and harmonic variation, but has also proven his worth as a multi-instrumental band player: pianist, guitarist, percussionist and sound programmer.
These two albums offer a convincing showcase of his professional talents and his extremely varied musical repertoire so far.
